Asana refers to the physical postures or poses in yoga.


The practice of Asana typically follows a progression of: standing, kneeling, lying, inversions, backbends, twists, and forward bends. Each posture is followed by a counterpose aimed at maintaining balance throughout the body.


On the mat, Asana is a powerful practice that reflects the process of living, dying, and rebirth.

PRANAYAMA

Pranayama is the art of breathing.


In Sanskrit, "prana" means life force, and "ayama" means expansion or extension. Pranayama, therefore, is the extension of life force through breath.


Breath is the link between body and mind. When the breath is slow, smooth and deep, the mind is quiet and at peace. When the mind is peaceful perception is clear and unobstructed by habits, associations, and conditioning.

Meditation: a natural state, free from judgement or boundaries where the mind is directed toward an object with undivided attention.

ABOUT

My natural inclination for expression through movement inspired my parents to enroll me in ballet when I was three. Thanks to wonderful mentors, my passion for dance blossomed, and at 18, I signed my first professional contract with Atlanta Ballet. I spent the next decade living out my dream and performing with various companies across the United States.


Upon retiring from ballet, I was immediately drawn to yoga, intrigued by its holistic approach to wellness and its blending of physical and spiritual elements. I welcomed the opportunity to unlearn and relearn and dove headfirst into a new world of movement where harmony with breath is center-stage. Letting go of old thought patterns and embracing yoga allowed me to nurture my passion for movement through an exploration of mind, body, and spirit.


As a certified yoga teacher, I aspire to cultivate a sacred space where people can experience the bliss that arises when body and breath flow in unison. My classes are a reminder that when we align ourselves with nature, our ability to achieve whole-body health and wellness soars.
